Swirly woodburned frame

Recently I was going though a closet packed with some of my craft equipment and 20160412_143332found the pyrographer (professional grade wood burner) my husband bought me a few years ago.  It was like seeing an old friend.

I eagerly got it out, warmed it up and hunted up something to use it on.

I found a mirror with an unfinished frame and settled in for some creative, if a bit smoky, fun.

Using a pencil, I drew swirls, then began to use my old friend to burn the design.  I decided to add some spikes and dots to give it more pizzazz.

About 15 minutes into my creative process, my hubster came out of his home office sniffing, looking mildly alarmed and asking “is something on fire out here?”

More open windows and a fan mostly took care of the burned wood odor.  Lesson re-learned, but it was totally worth it–I had so much fun reuniting with my old smoky friend.
