If you saw my previous blog, you saw that I had to stop crocheting a baby sweater because I ran out of yarn. And I didn’t know what kind or color it was because I’d thrown away the paper sleeve that was around the skein of blue yarn I’d been using.
I’m housebound, on antibiotics and steroids and avoiding further infection, so I sent my intrepid husband to the yarn aisle at Walmart to try to match up a snippet I’d saved for him in a baggie.
He stopped at Walmart on the way home today, and when he came in the door he proudly presented me with a bag containing a skein of blue yarn.
“Check it out!” he said. “Does it match? I think it matches.”
I peeped into the bag. “It looks right, but we won’t know until we match it up with the sweater.”
With further encouragement from my hubby, I pulled out the small sleeve-and-a-half sweater. I lay it out on the kitchen counter alongside the new skein of yarn. Hubby came over and peered over my shoulder. I leaned down and looked close, and draped a strand of the yarn over the sweater. I straightened up and announced, “it’s a match.”

My dear yarn hunter burst into a smile, and I knew then that I would have to finish the sweater this evening. I did, and it’s done, and I’m happy with how it turned out. And grateful that I have a husband who is willing to be my yarn hunter gatherer.
UPDATE: Here is a pic of our little one in her new sweater. I made it big, for her to grow into. 😊

That is so nice! She looks adorable!
